The Great Depression was a horrible time. Before that horrendous time it was a very fun and prosperous time. Women had their dresses cut down by their knees. Women were drinking at bars. Men were rich and prosperous, they could even by cars like the model T. Day after day people would spend lots of money because they were all rich. Nobody was saving any money. That’s when the stock market crashed and it went all downhill from there.

After WW1 japans economy was doing just fine. Everyone was doing great. It was almost like the roaring twenties were in Japan. But when America’s stock market crashed it was horrendous. People were losing their jobs and family. Soon after that happen Japan was affected as well. Their Connections of silk were no longer available to Japans foreign trading. The value of Japanese exports had dropped 50 percent from 1929 to 1931. Many people blamed the American government for japans economic crisis.

When people went to buy shirts or jackets they would buy the ones with zippers instead of buttons because buttons were too expensive for the average person in America at that time. Because circulation of money was at an all time low the United States didn’t mint nickels in 1932 through 1933. The most popular song in that time period was “Brother Can you spare a dime?” by Bing Crosby.
